“Lion Taming” Author Steve Katz Will Speak at Federal Coaches’ Community of Practice Meeting, Jan. 14

Washington, DC--Steven Katz, author of “Lion Taming: Working Successfully with Leaders, Bosses, and other Tough Customers”, is the featured speaker at the quarterly meeting of Coaches Community of Practice on January 14, 2005. The meeting, sponsored by Treasury’s Federal Consulting Group (FCG), will be held from 9 a.m. - noon in the Office of Thrift Supervision Amphitheater, 1700 G St., NW, Washington, DC.

“Many federal employees are interested in hearing Steve Katz or they want to learn more about the benefits of coaching and mentoring in federal agencies,” said FCG CEO Anne Kelly. “In fact, we’ve had such interest in this program that all seats have been reserved and we have a waiting list.”

“Steve was in the audience for our last quarterly meeting,” said FCG Executive Coach Lee Salmon. “He created quite a buzz, so I decided to ask him to speak at our January meeting. I will be the ‘impresario’ and he will be the ‘lion tamer’.”

“Comparing yourself to a lion tamer will help you deal with the strong and powerful around you,” Katz says on his Website. “Lion Taming is everyone's real job of working with people who wield power and influence around us — leaders, bosses, customers, clients, employees, and others.”

Steven L. Katz worked for more than twenty years as a right-hand executive and senior advisor to leaders and executives across the worlds of business, non-profit organizations, politics, and government, including serving as legal counsel to Senator John Glenn. From Capitol Hill and the White House to boardrooms, clients, and customers, he developed the art of applying the lessons of lion taming. Along the way, he added the term to the lexicon of the workplace. Steven L. Katz has degrees in anthropology, history, and law. He lives with his family outside Washington, D.C.
